"Steve Briody's "Jazz Guitar Lines of the Greats" is a great reference book for any instrument - a lot of these lines lay quite well on the trumpet and are a great way to expand one's jazz vocabulary!"
"Nicely put together book written by Steve Briody that features 5 great jazz guitar masters. Wes Montgomery, Pat Martino, Jimmy Raney, Tal Farlow, and Joe Pass...All heroes of mine. I particularly like Steve's opening comments about "Why Imitate?" Every musician went through that learning process before finding their own voice. The book consists of mostly "Jazz Lines" by the 5 featured guitarists and how each one played 2/5 patterns, dominant 7th's and other important harmonic structures. Very worthy book."
"I think this is an excellent book and reference guide. It pays a lot of respect to these guitar masters, and I think guitar players will learn a lot from it".
"Every jazz guitarist needs this book - it is on my music stand as we speak" Cover Illustration by Richard Martin
I'm very excited about the release of my new book. It features over 100 pages of lines (or "licks", or "riffs") from 5 jazz guitar heroes of mine:
I categorized the lines according to common improvisational situations:
I hope it's helpful to guitarists (as well as other instrumentalists) of many different levels. Please check it out & let me know what you think. Thanks.
